This pattern was inspired by Robert Frost’s poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”. The poem conjures such a lovely image of the hushed sound of a wintery forest with the snow falling gently, and only the horse with its bells making any sound. Deep winter magic! With only two colours it’s an easy knit, while the very varied pattern will keep the knitter engaged!

One size. Finished and blocked socks measure:
Length of the foot: approx. 23 cm/9.1”.
Circumference: approx. 21 cm/8.3”.
Size can be adjusted by using smaller or larger sized needles or thinner or thicker yarn.

Yarn:
Used in sample:
MC: Hobbii Dream Colour 04 (Wild Berry)
CC: Järbo Junior Raggi 68401 (Natural White)

Approximate weight needed (if sticking to gauge):
MC: 50 g
CC: 30 g

(One ball of yarn: 100gr = 425 meters/465 yards or 50 g = 210 meters/230 yards). Or any other yarn of the same weight, preferably a woolmix for socks, to make them more durable.

Needles: Magic loop or double pointed needles size 2 mm/US 0 and 2.75 mm/US 2, or whichever size needle is suitable for achieving gauge or change size. If you use magic loop, a cable of about 60-80 cm/25-30” is sufficient.

A piece of scrap yarn in a contrasting colour
Scissors

Gauge for colourwork:
Approx. 34 st/37 rows = 10 cm/4”.
