If you love to take your knitting with you where you go, like me, - the Soap Bubbles Afghan knitting pattern is exactly what you need! Knitting pieces is so convenient!
I used different colours of Drops DK wool from my stash. Use any oddments you have. It’s up to you!
Crochet is a great way to join together all squares. It’s less stretchy than knitting, which means that it will give your blanket more structure and less sag.
You can knit Afghan as big as you wish.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner.
Stitches used: knit, purl, knit2tog, ssk, yo, also you have to know some basic crochet stitches for joining all squares in one piece.
The pattern comes with written instructions, charts and diagram.

MATERIALS: I used Drops Lima DK (two balls held together) for my sample.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 4305 (dark blue shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 6235 (grey blue shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 9018 (sea green shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 0206 (light beige shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 0619 (beige shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 5310 (light brown shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 5610 (brown shade) yarn.
• 4 x 50g balls (400m or 437yds) using Drops Lima DK 0707 (rust shade) yarn.
• 3 x 50g balls (300m or 328yds) using Drops Lima DK 7810 (moss green shade) yarn for joining squares. NB you can use your leftovers from knitted squares.
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension) and yardage and adjust accordingly.
• 2 Straight needles - 8.00 mm (US 11).
• 1 Crochet hook - 5 mm (US H - 8).
• 1 Tapestry needle.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING:

1 Square: (30 x 30) cm, (11 ¾ x 11 ¾) ins.
Afghan: (width 174 x length 116) cm, (68 ½ x 45 ¾) ins.

GAUGE (Tension): 11 sts and 14 rows = 10 cm (4 ins), Afghan being blocked and measured over stockinette pattern, using 8.00 mm (US 11) needle.
NB Gauge is not crucial for this pattern. Your size depends on your gauge. Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches for 10 cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches for 10 cm, take a smaller needle
size. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your Afghan won’t be size shown.
