In Scottish folklore, the Loch Ness Monster or Nessie is a creature said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as large in size with a long neck and one or more humps protruding from the water.

The Sock Ness socks are inspired by this tale. Nessie is often seen depicted as a sea serpent. The lace pattern in the socks is inspired by a sea serpent pushing trough the dark Lock Ness lake, creating waves as it goes!

The pattern is knit top-down in fingering weight yarn. The blue and green sample socks are knit in yarn by Garnsurr, and the light and pink socks are knit in the “Three friends” colourway by Pixie Yarn! Make sure you check out Pixie Yarns gorgeous new colourway “Nessie” made special for the Sock Ness Socks!

Big thanks to my wonderful test-knitters for their excellent help and pictures!
