I designed the Erin hat for my lovely daughter, a nurse and has worked so hard this year! It is a generous slouchy hat in a Fair Isle design of seven colours and a corrugated double rib making it thicker, which is comfortable and flattering. The rib also provides the option to fold back to show a plain rib. I used Rowan Felted Tweed, a soft and luxurious wool, alpaca, viscose mix, knitted on 3.50 circular or double pointed needles. The Fair Isle design includes 3 small Fair Isle motifs which are mostly simple 4 stitch repeats. In the centre of the design is one 24 stitch repeat which is not too complicated.
The Fair Isle instructions are illustrated as charts in the 7 colours shown in the photograph above.

Pattern Kit:
The knitting kit provides sufficient yarn to knit in the sequence and colours on the charts. If you wish to change the pattern or colours you will need to balance the amount of each colour, to ensure you have enough yarn to complete the hat.
A knitting kit is available from my Folksy shop: folksy.com/shops/knittingjulesdesigns
