Solar Storm is a worsted weight hat, featuring cables, slipped and twisted stitches and seed stitch sections to create a beautiful and eye-catching texture. It is designed to have little negative ease and to be a little slouchy.
The pattern provides instructions for making five sizes - for both adults and children, and two versions - with simple ribbed brim and with double folded ribbed brim for added warmth.

YARN
Worsted weight wool yarn, approximately:

• 105 (125, 160, 180, 205) yards (100 (115, 150, 165, 190) m) for simple ribbed brim version
• 140 (160, 200, 225, 255) yards (130 (150, 185, 205, 235) m) for double brimmed version

SUGGESTED YARN

• Knit Picks Swish Worsted (100% merino wool; 110 yards (101 m) / 50 g)
• Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool (100% wool; 465 yards (425 m) / 227 g)

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

• Size US 4 (3.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) or 20” (50 cm) circular needles
• Size US 8 (5.0 mm) 16” (40 cm) or 20” (50 cm) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• Size US 8 (5.0 mm) set of double pointed needles (DPNs)
• (optional) Size US 8 (5.0 mm) 32” (80 cm) or 40” (100 cm) circular needles if you prefer using the magic loop method for finishing the hat
