Welcome to my first written pattern! Please let me know if there are any errors or you have any suggestions.

This pattern is heavily inspired by two other free patterns on Ravelry:

Crochet Skull shawl/Döskallesjal pattern by kungen och majkis http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skull-shawl-doska...
and
Narrow Crochet Skull Scarf: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/narrow-crochet-sk...

I have played with this skull pattern for quite awhile now and love coming up with modifications to it. I really like having a solid body surrounding the skulls. It really seems to make them pop!

Gauge isn’t all that important for this project as you can adjust the width and length to your preference. I generally start by creating three DC rows to see how wide the scarf will be, then I adjust my hook size and/or yarn as needed.

For a scarf 9” wide and 80” long, I used 499 yds.

NOTE Aug 2015: I have had a few people ask me how to avoid the bulge that appears in the middle between skulls. I find it disappears when I block the scarf (although that requires a natural fibre like wool).
Otherwise, you may wish to play around with the number of stitch in the various chains around the skull.
IE. Increase the number of stitches in the various chains to allow for more give. In the first row of the skull, the chain 10 row, you can skip the 10 DCs as mentioned, but chain 11 or 12 to give it a bit more stretch.

Available in both GERMAN and FRENCH. The links to the translations can be found on the main pattern page of my website.
