Sonata Shima Shawl
Sonata Shima Shawl is designed to showcase
a color changing yarn.
The shape is slightly more than a triangle for fit and comfort.
Yarn: Noro Sonata Shima 100g 360m (390 yards)
This shawl used 150 grams or 550 meters (1.5) skeins
Center back length 23 inches. Top edge 50 inches.
Guage: (3 dc, ch 2) x 4 and 10 rows = 4 inches
G/4 mm crochet hook
Ch=chain, sc=single crochet, dc=double crochet, st=stitch
Row 1: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2). Work 5 dc, ch 2, 1 dc, in 5th ch from hook. Turn. Place a marker in the center dc of the 5-dc group.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in first dc, ch 2, skip ch-2 sp, dc in next 2 dc, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, dc in center st. Dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in 3rd ch
of turning ch. Turn.
Row 3: Chain 5, (counts as dc, chain 2) 1 dc in first dc, dc in next 2 dc, Ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc repeat from to ch-2 sp before center. Ch 2, skip ch-2 sp, 5 dc in center dc. Ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc; repeat fromworking last dc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, dc again in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 4: Chain 3, 2 dc in first dc. ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc. Work to ch-2 sp before center 5-dc group, chain 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 2 dc, dc ch 2, dc, ch 2, dc in center st. Dc in next 2 dc. Ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc Repeat to across, end 3 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for a total of 40 rows.
End with Row 4. At 40 rows there are 40-3 dc groups, either side of center. The edging uses about 30 yards.
Edging: Ch 3, sc in 3rd dc In next ch-2 sp, sc 2, ch 2, slip st in base of second sc to form a picot, sc 2 in same sp, sc in next 3 dc.
Sc in first dc of the last 3 dc group, ch 3, slip st in the last st and fasten off.
