The South Philly Skulls Beanie is a follow-up to my South Philly Skulls Cowl, featuring the same small-scale skull motif now adapted for a beanie. It’s worked in DK-weight yarn using stranded colorwork and is approachable for knitters who have done a little colorwork before or are ready to give it a try.

This hat will be part of a matching bundle with the South Philly Skulls Cowl, which will be offered shortly.

The pattern is designed for Kelbourne Woolens Scout, and one skein of each color will yield at least two hats if you reverse the color placement. It’s a fun way to experiment with bold color combos and make the most of your yarn.

Also knit this up in Sandnes Garn Double Sunday in the black and white.

The hat has a ribbed brim and a slightly relaxed crown, fitting best on adult heads 22–23 inches in circumference. On smaller heads, it will have a slightly slouchier fit.
