Speckled yarn is so special, so painterly, it’s like abstract art. No two skeins are the same, the markings the colors produce are individual and unpredictable. Along with that they are imbued with a sense of fun, of letting go. I wanted to create a pattern that would emphasize that freedom. Let the yarn take the lead and really admire its beauty along the way. Instead of an allover stitch pattern this design provides a “Speckle Code,” a set of individual stitch motifs, each worked over 1-3 stitches according to the color pattern of your yarn. You choose which motif goes with which color, then as each color appears in your yarn, you work the appropriate motif. What you end up with is a unique texture that can not be exactly replicated. Your finished cowl will be as unique as your skein of yarn.

-This is a quick, totally addictive, 1 skein project that must be knit with speckled yarn, the instructions will not work with solid colored yarn.
