Spellbound Shawl
by Laura Heck
This machine knit pattern is designed for an advanced beginner with some knowledge of increases and fair isle. A single bed machine with punch card capability or an electronic machine is ideal. The shawl is knit in four sections. Three standard punch cards are used to achieve a color shift.
Gauge and sizing is not critical, however be sure you have enough yarn if you stray from the recommended gauge.
Equipment & Tools:
- Standard gauge single bed knitting machine
- Weights (3 to 5 claw weights)
- Transfer tool(s), 1 and 2 pronged
- Tapestry needle
- Crochet hook (4mm / G6 or slightly larger)
- Standard punch card numbers 1, 7, and 18, or blank cards to punch the included patterns.
Yarn
Color A: Approximately 580 yds (531 meters) of fingering weight yarn
Color B: Approximately 420 yds (384 meters) of fingering weight yarn
Any yarn with a heathered effect will produce a smoother transition from one color to another.
