Spinster Shawlette

DESCRIPTION
Spinster Shawlette is a double-knit miniature shawl featuring a large, graphic, spiderweb motif. The shawlette is knitted from the top-down. Double decreases are worked on either side to shape the shawl. It is finished using a grafting stitch to seam the front side of the stitches to the back.
This pattern is a great introduction to double knit colorwork. It includes fully embedded tutorials for all of the introduced techniques.
This design is free because the resulting shawlette cannot be comfortably worn on the body and simultaneously display the motif. I was about to pull the design altogether, but:
- I had a lot of fun knitting the sample.
- I realized that it looked pretty cute draped across the back of a chair.
So the intention is that this will be a piece of home decor, perfect for the Halloween season or your general campy gothic decor needs, but be aware that it does not function well as a wearable.
