This minimalist design offers a classic style with a beautiful repeating spiral motif, creating an elegant and versatile cowl that would suit many occasions and wearers. It features a provisional cast on to enable the knitter to join the ends seamlessly, and the spiral pattern is surprisingly straightforward to create. An addictive and rewarding knit all round!

Sizing Guide
The sample shown is designed to be worn wrapped around the neck twice. However, the pattern instructions could easily be adapted to create a shorter cowl that wraps only once.

Yarn
Recommended yarn is Lion Brand’s Heartland, a beautifully soft, medium-weight (Aran / Worsted) wool. Sample shown is knitted using Colour 151: Katmai. Two balls (142g each) are needed to complete a cowl that wraps around the neck twice. A shorter cowl that wraps only once could be constructed from just one ball of this yarn.

Gauge
On 5mm (Us size 8), 17 sts of stockinette over 24 rows creates a 4x4” square. Gauge in the spiral pattern should be the same.
