The Spiral Slouch beanie pattern is a quick and easy knit that yields a stylish, versatile hat. It features a tubular cast on to ensure maximum comfort and stretch around the headband, plus a spiral pattern that is far more simple than it looks and hides the decreases neatly within it. Minimum effort, maximum results!

Sizing Guide
Toddler / Small Child size: actual hat circumference 14”, designed to fit 16-19” head circumference. Hat height 9.5”.
Large Child / Adult size: actual hat circumference 17”, designed to fit 20-24” head circumference. There are two options for the adult hat height. The shorter height is 9”, where the hat fits snugly on your head, or the longer height is 11”, where the hat has a slouchier fit.

Yarn
Recommended yarn is Lion Brand Heartland. However, other similar Aran / Worsted weight yarns could be used. Toddler / small child size requires approx. 75m / 45g; longer adult size requires approx. 104m / 65g.

Gauge (after wet blocking)
On 5mm (Us size 8), 17 sts of stockinette over 24 rows creates a 4x4” square. Gauge in spiral pattern should be the same.

Tools
4.5mm and 5mm (US sizes 7 and 8) circular needles
5mm (US size 8) double pointed needles may be preferred for the crown of the hat, although the pattern can be completed on circulars.
Optional, for the tubular cast on: you may prefer 4.5mm straight needles for the cast on, although it can be completed using only circulars.
