The “Spiral Yarn Cozy” is like its brother the “Fingering Yarn Cozy”, which is freely available at Ravelry, a small knitted bag that holds a caked skein of yarn of ‘Fingering’ (sock) yarn so that it cannot unwind by itself. In this version the simple design of the free version is replaced by a chic, continuous spiral pattern.

The Yarn Cozy is knitted like its free brother variant as a small hat, which is slipped over the yarn. Due to the spiral pattern the Yarn Cozy is flexible and can be stretched to pull it over the yarn. It contracts easily around the yarn. If the yarn is used from the middle, the Yarn Cozy holds the yarn together until the end. In my example the Yarn Cozy measures 10cm in diameter and is about 9cm high when filled. But this depends very much on the caked yarn.

The pattern contains a chart for the spiral pattern!
