Spring Vibes Scrappy Coaster
Whether Spring is in full swing, just around the corner, or still months away, this cute little coaster will give you all the Spring vibes. Both practical and adorable, this project is fun and quick to make and will brighten your day.
This pattern is designed for using up colorful scraps and stash busting - those last few yards of yarn left over after you finish a larger project, single balls of yarn, minis, or maybe yarns in colors that are a little too bright or that you just don’t know what to do with… Use any DK yarn, just be aware of fiber content and use similar fiber contents together. Also some DK yarns can lean lighter/thinner or heavier/thicker, so try to use yarns that are a similar weight together.
Feel free to folow the colors used in the sample, but I encourage you to use other combos and choose your own favorite colors. Also you can adjust the pattern however you like - make all 4 squares the same flower and colors, or all 4 the same flower but in different colors for each square, 2 and 2 as in the sample, or 2 and 2 but with all different colors, make a matching set or a mix and match… It’s completely up to you to decide, so have fun!
US crochet terms
Each coaster uses about 35m/40yds of yarn total
Coaster measures about 5.25”/13.3cm square
No yarn is specifically recommended but here are some I used in my sample or would typically use for a project like this:
Hobbii Baby Cotton Midi (or Hobbii Friends 8/6 cotton, or Hobbii Rainbow 8/6
cotton - all are pretty similar)
Hobbii Acacia cotton/acrylic blend
Paintbox Yarns Cotton Mix DK cotton/acrylic blend
Knit Picks Shine Sport cotton modal blend (this is more of a DK weight even though
it is labeled as sport)
Knit Picks Cotlin DK cotton/linen blend
Premier Cotton Fair cotton/acrylic blend
Nako Calico cotton/acrylic blend
feel free to use other fiber contents like wool, wool blends, or 100% acrylic as well (do not use synthetic fibers if the coaster will be exposed to high heat).
Written pattern with clear instructions, step by step photos, and a color coded pattern chart is included in the pattern PDF.
