A lightweight beanie worked from bottom up. Features slipped stitches, mock cable stitches, and a gathered crown.

YARN
DK yarn, OR any yarn to obtain gauge
In the sample, I used approximately 160yds (146m)
Bernat Softee Cotton Baby 254yds (232m) / 120g(4.2oz)

Always have more than what is listed so you don’t run out of yarn.

Note: Cotton yarn may shrink after washing but they can also stretch quite a bit after being used. This will affect negative ease. Please consider this when choosing your yarn.

GAUGE – in the round, unstretched, blocked (lay flat to dry)
US 4 (3.5mm) 24-25 sts across 4” (10cm) in stockinette
US 6 (4mm) 23-24sts & 33-34 rows per 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) in stockinette

If you get too few stitches in 4” (10cm), you need to go down in needle size. If you get too many stitches in 4” (10cm), you need to go up in needle size.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, stitch marker (optional), scissors
