About the pattern
This is a beginner drop shoulder sweater, worked top down, knit in stockinette stitch. There is no seaming needed (yay!). The back yoke is shaped using German Short Rows, the shoulders are picked up and joined to make the front yoke. The back yoke and front yoke are then joined in the round. Sleeve stitches are picked up at the arm holes and knit in the round. Decorative squiggles are created using surface crochet after the sweater has been finished.
This pattern includes 30 cm / 11.8 inches of positive ease in the circumference of the garment to create an oversized fit. For a less oversized fit, consider using finer yarn or knit a smaller size.
For reference, my bust measures 82 cm, I am 5’5 and wearing a size M in the pictures at the end of the pattern.

Gauge
18 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”) stockinette stitch, after blocking, on 5 mm (US 8) needles.
Reaching gauge is very important to ensure the correct fit of the garment.

Yarn
Yarn used: Cascade 220, 100 g, 200 m (219 yds) for the body and Rico Essentials Super Neon Super Chunky, 100 g, 90 m (98 yds) for the surface crochet
Colour used: Stratosphere 9484
Good substitution: Hobbii Divina, Drops Nepal or anything with similar yardage / worsted / aran weight and a super chunky yarn for the surface crochet.
This is a heavy sweater, so take this into account for less structured / looser gauge yarns that are likely to stretch, like cotton.

-5 mm (US 8) circular needles (80 cm and 20 cm in length) for the body
-4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles (80 cm and 20 cm in length) for ribbing
-4.5 mm (US 7) Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) - optional
-Darning needle for bind off, seaming and weaving ends
-Tape measure

-5 mm (US 6) crochet hook for surface crochet
