Squiggly Scarf

Add some whimsy to your wardrobe with a Squiggly Scarf! This was inspired by the Wiggly Scarf knitting pattern by Helena Wieser, which was such a satisfying and fun project that I had to make a crochet version!

Skills Used

This project is mostly single crochet stitches. You should be able to count stitches and rows, as well as know how to join new yarn at the start of a row and crochet into the sides of rows.

Gauge and Materials

The pictured scarf measures about 4” (~10 cm) wide by 80” (~203 cm) long and is made with Soft Silk Mohair in “Pink Daisies” and “Blood Orange”, and Halo Brushed Alpaca in “Celestial”. (Silk Soft Mohair in “Lavender Blue” is similar to “Celestial”.)

Tools – 4.5 mm and 4.0 mm crochet hooks (can omit the 4.0 mm if using DK or worsted yarn), tapestry needle to weave in ends, and scissors.

600 yd (549 m) total of a fuzzy lace weight (#0) yarn such as Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair, Kaos Yarns Halo Brushed Alpaca, or Plymouth Yarns Suri Stratus

• 240 yd (~220 m) of first color + 240 yd of second color + 120 yd (~110 m) for the border. You will crochet with 2 strands of yarn held together.

or 300 yd (~275 m) total of a heavier DK weight (#3) or lighter worsted weight (#4) yarn such as Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino

• 260 yd (~238 m) for main and 40 yd (~37 m) for border. If using this option, the yarn is held single.
