Standing Otter
Save 50% using coupon code “spring” until end of day March 29, for this pattern and any others in my shop, no limits.
This cute standing otter was inspired by some AI images circulating online. Upon discovering that it was a rabbit hole with no pattern to be had, I decided to tackle the challenge and see how close I could get it. This pattern uses some unusual stitching, and a mix of working flat and in the round to achieve the shaping and even stitches.
In this pattern you will use backwards single crochet (much simpler than it sounds) as well as the squared single crochet (yarn under); this keeps all the bars in the back of the work, so only the pretty side of the stitches are on the outside.
If you have had an AI “amigurumi” image make your heart go pitty-pat, only to be disappointed to find it doesn’t have a pattern to go with it, feel free to nominate it in my comments, and I will see what I can do to bring it into real life!
I used Lionbrand Scarfie in “Cream/taupe” (about half a skein) for one otter, and the lighter coloured otter was Bernat Super Value in “Honey” and Loops and Threads Impeccable in “Heather”
