Starf is a scarf, or, maybe, a wrap. The star at one end is about 60cm in diameter; the main body is 25cm wide.
Techniques used: short rows, provisional cast-on, garter stitch, decreases and increases. You need to be familiar with all above to successfully knit this scarf.
You will need:

  • fingering-weight yarn, approximately 120g /500 meters total. You can also use sport-weight; in that case you will use more yarn
  • circular needles US size 6. DPNs are OK, but circulars are more convenient.
  • scrap yarn for provisional cast-on. Yarn must be smooth (cotton, silk, synthetics).
  • additional double-pointed or circular needle (optional)

The prototype weights 120g and measures 165 cm long with 25cm wide main body.
You can use different color leftovers, or two gradient, or gradient/solid yarn. Sectional yarn, combined with solid color gives interesting directionality effect. The PDF also has a coloring page that will help you choose the colors.
