I grew up by the sea, every season carries the smell of the ocean. This is a special stocking - created for my daughter. Braids surround a checkerboard cuff, strawberry starfish against a ruby background and finished with a green toe and heel. Optional gold overstitching for the checkerboard and starfish mouths. All combine to give a seaside flair to a Christmas fireplace, and it’s big enough for lots of stuffers! Use blue in place of pink and Skip the flower for a more “masculine” stocking.

Materials:
Size 6 16 inch circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
(24 inch length can be used if desired)
Same size double pointed needles if desired for toe decreases.

All yarns are worsted weight:

140 yds MC Deep Red
140 yds CC1 Pinky Red ( or Light Blue for more masculine look)
75 yds CC2 Green
20 yds CC3 Gold
10-15 yd Scraps of 3 colors for crocheted flower (optional)

Sharp darning needle
Stitch marker
Size J Crochet hook for loop and/or flower OR 5” piece of 1 inch wide ribbon for loop

Gauge = 5.5 sts per inch (not critical in a stocking but there it is)
Smaller than normal needles and gauge for worsted weight yarn are to keep the fabric tight and less likely to stretch when filled.
Finished Size: Approximately 8 inches wide x 19 inches long after blocking.
