This is a pattern for the Pokemon Staryu! It’s a very simple but beautiful little amigurumi doll to make, and highly recommended for beginners.

The gauge provided is the generic gauge for Caron Simply Soft and a 4mm hook, but gauge is not important to this work. It’s more important that you use a hook that gives you a firm, tight weave to ensure there aren’t gaps that expose the stuffing. If you use a different yarn, be sure to make test swatches to ensure you’re using an appropriate hook.
