Knit from the top down, this shawl uses a pattern of increases and decreases to achieve a bat-like shape.
Knit as shown, the shawl has six sections that make it sit comfortably on your shoulders. One section can be omitted to use less yardage; this version has a straighter top edge.

• Increasing
• Decreasing
• Yarn overs
Yardage details:
• Six sections: 775 yards of fingering-weight yarn (500 for main color, 275 for lace inserts and edging)
• Five sections: 645 yards of fingering-weight yarn (420 for main color, 225 for lace inserts and edging)
• The optional wider lace edging requires an additional 135 yards for six sections or 110 for five.
