When a friend referred to my first stocking pattern (Stella Nova) as Stella Novella. My mind was taken over by reds, oranges, and golds, hearts and flames, and passionate warmth.

The Stella Novella Collection celebrates fiery passion and longing for romance in the everyday with Scandinavian and Baltic inspired knitting techniques that result in head-turning knits to wear and show off – cozy works of art.

This is second pattern in the collection. The Stella Novella Hat is a quick knit (think weekend project). The pattern includes two different chart options for the crown and is written in three sizes.

This pattern is for a head-turning stranded colour work hat. It is worked cuff up and techniques include: knitting in the round, stranded colour work, and Latvian braid.

The pattern includes: instructions for three sizes; two variations for the crown charts; and an appendix with notes and tips on techniques used, yarn selection and substitution.

Each hat requires two contrasting yarns that weigh in at 427yd/391m per 115g/4oz

  • 100-120yd/90-110m of MC; 70-100yd/60-90m of CC for Small

  • 120-140yd/130-150m of MC; 80-100yd/ 70-90 meters of CC for Medium

  • 150-170y/140-160m of MC; 100-120y/ 90-110m of CC for Large

The smallest size will fit an adult with a small head or a child and the largest will fit an adult with a large head.

You can easily increase or decrease gauge or yarn weight to increase or decrease size.

Pay What Works

Inspired by Francoise Danoy of Aroha Knits I will be using a Pay What Works model for my pattern. I encourage you to check out her patterns for more information.

This model is an effort to both respect and value the worth of the work done by the designer and those involved in producing the pattern and to acknowledge that ours is not an inexpensive pursuit and that finances can be a barrier to engagement and participation.

The Ravelry price is the true price of the pattern. To purchase the pattern at a price point that is more accessible to you the coupon codes below can be used at checkout. The prices indicate the price you will pay, not the discount amount. No coupon code is needed for the base price for the pattern (highest price point).
