Hand-dyed Mulberry silk from Thelma Steimann. The silk has a super soft quality, is a fantastic yarn to work with, and gives a shiny and airy finish to the garment. Approx. 400 m / 100 g per skein.

Needles & Notions

Circular needle 6 mm (40 or 80 cm) for body

Circular needle 4.5 mm (40 cm) for neckline

5 x DPN 5 mm for cuffs

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and stitching hemline and cuffs

Stitch markers

2 x keeping cords for resting stitches

Tension Gauge Swatch

The gauge is not strictly relevant for the Stella blouse, as the body is worked with a technique that plays with stitch size and naturally balances out.

However, as a guideline:

Hemline (needle 5 mm): approx. 36 sts = 10 cm

Body (needle 6 mm): approx. 1.5 sts per 1 cm

The silk is slippery and can change the gauge quickly.

Good to Know

The blouse is knitted in the round throughout, starting from the top and working down.

The yoke is worked with raglan increases. Once completed, the work is divided into body and sleeves. The body is knitted to the desired length. The hemline is worked straight and left to curl naturally. The sleeves are shaped with decreases. Both neckline and cuffs are folded to create a double edge.
