When you live on a windswept cliff like we do, you need wool to protect you against the harsh, always present northern winds. I made this warm, cabled hat with a double (folded) brim. It’s knitted at a tight gauge with a super bulky yarn on needle 6 (US 10) to ensure it is more windproof.

size:
I made it 54 cm in circumfence, but you can easily adapt it to any size you want, just by knitting more (for bigger heads) or less (for smaller heads) cable sequences.

materials needed:
-approx. 150 grams Drops Andes (I used black), with a normal gauge of 10 sts/14 rows on ndl 9 (US 13), but here with a final (tighter) gauge of 14 sts/20 rows on nld 6 (US 10). Or use a different yarn with a similar gauge.
-4 double pointed (sock) needles size 6 (US 10) for the crown
-circular needle size 6 (US 10) / 40 cm
-cable needle (or match, tooth pick or pencil of something like that)
-1 stitchmarker (sm)
-a scrap of contrasting yarn
-darning needle
