The Storyteller Scarf is knit flat from end to end in garter stitch with intarsia words along the length. All letters are chart only.

This pattern gives instructions for a scarf with the words KNIT at one end and PURL at the other end together with charts for the full English alphabet of letters so that you can choose your own words to use. Charts for ? and ! are also included.

Short words are perfect for this scarf, see the photos of LOVE and WHY? as examples of other words you could use. Alternatively you can a repeating word or a short phrase along the length of scarf.

The form of intarsia used (1 strand of MC throughout teamed with 1 strand of CC for the letters) is a much easier version than regular intarsia; it doesn’t require you to twist yarns or worry about gaps appearing and you need a lot less balls/bobbins of yarn.

Yardage will greatly depend on how many words / letters you add to your scarf as well as desired scarf length. Each letter uses approximately 12yds / 11m of CC.
