Years ago, straw has were “de riguer” for little girls. The problem was that they itched and usually had an elastic chin band that pinched! Here is a cool, soft updated version complete with flowers.

This is an easy and adorable hat to knit with minimal finishing: the brim is worked in the round in seed stitch, the crown stitches are picked up and worked in the round in stockinette stitch, and the flowers are worked separately and sewn on.

The finished measurements for this hat are 14, 17 1/2 or 19”.

The yarn called for is worsted weight that will work up at 4 sts/1”.

The hat shown is worked in Peaches & Creme 100% unmercerized cotton in worsted weight.

The color is Beige, and the flowers are worked in Rose Pink, Light Grape, and Burgundy with Yellow centers.

This is a good weekend project.
