Stream Socks
Stream Socks are comfortable, textured socks inspired by the smooth, flowing lines of water. The pattern gently moves along the leg and foot, creating a dimensional surface that reflects light and brings a sense of calm rhythm - like ripples on a quiet stream.
Worked on a standard gauge double-bed knitting machine, the socks combine the elasticity of classic 2×2 rib with a decorative texture created by manual stitch transfers. The result is a snug, well-fitting fabric that keeps its shape while feeling soft and cozy.
The design features a short-row heel and toe, finished with Kitchener stitch for a seamless look and mattress stitch for neat seaming. The decorative section can be customized - you may knit the entire sock in 2×2 rib or adjust the length of the leg and foot as desired.
The sample shown is knitted in Roma Vizell 100% superwash merino in a deep violet shade, highlighting the gentle texture and giving the socks a refined yet relaxed look.
Skill level: Intermediate. Suitable for knitters familiar with double-bed machine knitting and manual stitch transfers.
