The Stripes’n’Buttons Cardigan is a fitted striped jacket with inset sleeves made in fingering yarn.

The bodice of the cardigan is knitted sideways allowing for flattering vertical stripes, while garter ridges provide waist shaping. These techniques are exploited to maximum effect to produce a timeless and elegant design that accents the curves of the body.

The button bands are reinforced to prevent gaping without adding extra bulk mid-front.

The contrasting stripes can either all be in one colour, or you can use variegated yarn or you can even use many different colours. A great stashbuster and an ideal project for your odd buttons!

If you wish no waist shaping, you can work the entire bodice in stocking stitch.
