In December, the weather gets colder and the wind often blows from the sea. After walking around Naples for hours I was getting hungry and cold. I stepped into a small trattoria and sat on a table in the middle of locals. The dinner was noisy, as always in Italy, but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. After a plate of pasta I was still in need of something, a sweet treat. I had no idea what Struffoli was but the lady insisted I should try. In a while, a plate arrived full of tiny balls of deep-fried pastry, covered with honey, candied fruit and sprinkles. It was served warm and it was exactly what I needed.
These fingering weight socks are knit toe up with a heel flap. The pattern is designed for those lovely skeins of variegated yarn that are lovely as a skein, but difficult to use. Simple textured pattern softens the color changes of a variegated yarn.
