The Suma Kleid (Suma Dress) is a simple and slightly loose summer dress in A-shape for every day. It doesn‘t matter if you are at the beach, if you are visiting unknown places, if it’s a warm summer evening or to the office – the Suma Kleid is your versatile summer-basic in your wardrobe. The front cutout is not too deep, but the v-cutout in the back is a little deeper and can be made with a wrap or not. The thicker straps make it possible to hide the straps of a bra.

The stockinette stitch and a summer yarn on thicker needles make the Suma Kleid to an airy companion on warm days.
First you knit the front part and join them. After a few rows forth and back and increases for the arm hole you stop and knit the back parts. After joining the front with the back parts you continue the rows forth and back until the cut out in the back is deep enough. Then you join the round and from now on it’s all knit stitches. Now you increase stitches on the sides until you reach the number of stitches for the hips. After that you continue in stockinette stitch without increases until your dress is as long as you like it. The straps are left open at the beginning and can be attached individually at the end.

Suma is an Austrian dialect word and means summer. Kleid is the German word for dress.
