I created this pattern as a way to use up scraps of yarn leftover from making hats. The variegated yarn from three colorways of your choice creates a beautiful ombre effect, inspired by my love of sunrises.

This pattern is worked in the round, from the bottom up. You can adjust the colorwork if needed, based on the amount of yarn you have. I recommend starting with the lightest color (color A), medium color in the middle (color B), and darkest (color C) at the top to create an ombre effect. I recommend using a variegated color for color B.

If you would like a wider/narrower cowl, simply add/subtract stitches in multiples of 3. To make the cowl shorter/longer, simply add/subtract rows of solid color A at the beginning or color C at the end.

This pattern is designed with just knit stitches to make it super fast, easy, and beginner friendly. An item with only knit stitches will have a tendency to curl at the bottom. This is a pattern that begs for blocking, which will fix the curling and help the colorwork pop. If you want to remedy the curling even further, do a few rows of 1x1 ribbing, or purl a row or two at the beginning.
