Christmas Gift for the Podenco dog shelter
The proceeds of this pattern I will donate 100% to the Podenco Rescue Centre HopeforPodencos founded by Irene & Steve Allen in Albacete, Spain. You can find their stories and info on www.hopeforpodencos.com, instagram and facebook.
Loving dogs madly, I rescued my own little podenco girl in January 2012. So scared in the beginning, she has grown into the most happy, funny and loyalest doggie you can imagine. If only we could save them all.

Beautiful ancient,
forgotten breed,
unloved dogs
in heartfelt need.
Triangle ears,
reaching sky,
playful nose bud
in pink dye.
I hope abuse of you will cease,
to you, podencos,
I dedicate my Sunrise Trees.
~ My new years’ wish 2019, Antoinette ~

Description
When the sun sets (see my Sunset Trees Sweater) it has to rise again too! So here is my Sunrise Trees Hat. The colorscheme and theme of which is much inspired by Egon Schiele’s beautiful painting “Vier Bäume” (1917).
In this pattern the colorwork chart of the trees is the most important feature. Except for the colorwork tier, the hat is knitted in ribbing all the way to its top. It stays on your head, wind or storm. Topping the hat off with a huge pompom makes you taller I noticed, a not so bad idea for little persons (like me).

Yarn
For this little project I used yarn from my stash:
Aran: Lammy, 100% wool superwash, (130m/100g) (142yd/100g), color 793 (middle brown) (MC); Fonty Aubusson, 100% wool superwash, (80m/50g) (87yd/50g), color 00 (off white) (CC1); SOVEN, 100% naturfreundlich naturschafwolle, (300m/200g) (328yd/200g), color pink (CC2). Meters/yardage used: MC – 68m/52g (74m/52g); CC1 – 24m/15g (26yd/15g); CC2 – 22m/15g (24yd/15g) for knitting and 38m/25g (41/25g) for pompom.

Needles & other material
2 sizes circular needles: 4,5 mm (US 7), 5 mm (US 8) – 40 cm (16 in), and 5 mm (US 8) DPNs (when not using magic loop method for crown); stitch marker, tapestry needle, pompom maker (or cardboard template).

Gauge
Needle 4,5 mm (US 7): 19 sts x 28 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4x4 in) in ribbing k1/p1; needle 5 mm (US 8): 22 sts x 20 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4x4 in) in stockinette colorwork.

Size information
Circumference at brim band 46 cm (18 in) unstretched, 20 cm (8 in) in length from brim edge to crown; will fit head circumference of 48 to 52 cm (19 to 20,5 in). To adjust width extra descriptions are included.

This hat fits into my Trees Series, like the Trees Shawl and my newly published Sunset Trees Sweater. Do you want to read my Trees story? You will find my blog on www.beauxknits.com.

Happy Trees knitting!
