This wrap can be knit in a couple of weekends – one if you’re ambitious and a genuinely fast knitter. I created it as a gift for my niece, and trust me when I say we had a hard time giving it up once it was finished! Our proximity to the beach and frequent trips to the coast (even in the winter) prompted the name, but it’s a lightweight, warm, and versatile piece that can be used anywhere.

Knit it in one color or combine two as done here. I chose a solid blue ball, and combined it with a variegated ball that had the same blue as the solid, along with green and purple accents.

You will be knitting this piece horizontally instead of vertically. That means you cast on as many stitches that will equal the desired width of your wrap. You’ll want to cast on enough stitches in order to wrap it around you, but not so many that it’ll be cumbersome to use or wear. You will be casting on many more stitches than perhaps you’re used to, but you will knit far fewer rows.
