Svarog wristwarmers
Svarog is the god of fire and blacksmithing in Slavic mythology, an embodiment of the spirit of elemental fire, representative of the divine flame. He is characterized by a few symbols. I have constructed a variation of his spinning wheel on these wristwarmers. The Slavic swastika is an ancient symbol reflecting the infinite cycle of life and death, the flaming sun and the cosmic order, a most sacred symbol.
The wristwarmers are knit in round from cuff upwards, with an afterthought thumb.
With fingering weight yarn, the size of the wristwarmers is going to be best suited for small hands. It is possible to adjust your gauge by going up a needle size and yarn weight group to fit larger hands.
You’ll need a tapestry needle or a crochet hook and stitch markers.
For XS to S size I recommend 2.5mm double pointed needles and fingering weight yarn.
Gauge: (after blocking): 27sts and 23 rows/10cm
