These tulip mittens are a simplified design of traditional Baltic flowery mittens. Instead of 72+sts on 1.5mm or 2mm needles, this pattern uses less stitches on 3mm needles, which makes it less flimsy and quicker to knit.
The mittens are knit from cuff upwards. First the ribbed cuff is knit, then the colourwork mitten pattern itself. When the mitten is finished, the cuff can be folded and sewn inside the mitten for a more traditional Baltic look.

You’ll need a tapestry needle or a crochet hook and stitch markers.

Gauge: (after blocking): 27sts and 23 rows/10cm

It is a one size fits all pattern, though I would say this specific gauge fits best for size S to M hands.

I used a combination of all three suggested Finnish yarns. But any of these on their own, or any other medium weight yarn will do. Just pick 3 colours for your pattern! Most of the rows are knit with 2 colours, but on a few rows the pattern uses 3 colours.
