In celebration of 5 years in business…and with 5 mini-skeins in hand….a cowl was born. If you want a deceptively simple pattern that is very meditative to knit, the Take 5 Cowl is for you. Take your pick between simple stockinette or the most complex of patterns and tailor this cowl to your own personal preferences.

This pattern is meant to be enjoyed, not agonized over – so if you make mistakes, decide whether to leave them or fix them (and be OK with leaving them). If you end up with an extra stitch or one too few at the end of a row, look back and find your mistake or work the adding or deleting of a stitch into your pattern repeat. Try and make the stitches around the center front stitches symmetrical and don’t worry about the rest…unless you want to!

This unisex pattern is one size only and designed around fingering weight yarn but could easily be adjusted to heavier yarns (and larger needles) if desired. Gauge is not critical, just make sure that your yarn/needle pairing makes a fabric that you like. Perhaps obviously, heavier yarn and larger needles will change the overall size of the cowl unless you adjust your stitch count accordingly – but larger & cozier might be just what you’re looking for….

It is knit top-down, in the round, with increases at the side neck and center front, and short-row shaping making the triangular shape in the front.
