TÅKESTI (from Norwegian: ‘fog trail’) is a big and cosy everyday shawl designed in Nutiden yarn from Honer och Eir. It is knit holding two strands of yarn together. Inspired by the beautiful colourway it is made in - BRUNTE- it features a simple and elegant slip-stitch detail.

The triangular shawl is worked sideways, starting at the tip of one of the wings. The pattern consists only of knit stitches and slip stitches and is easy to memorise, making it a relaxing project suitable for beginners. Yet, it is varied enough to keep more experienced knitters engaged.

The resulting shawl is incredibly warm, soft yet sturdy, and perfect for throwing over your shoulders during those early, cold mornings during the darker times of the year.

Yarn
Honer och Eir - Nutiden yarn.
Colourway - BRUNTE - held double - approximately 500 g.
Alternatively, if you would prefer a lighter shawl knit with one strand, you’ll need ~ 300 g.

Your individual yarn consumption will vary based on your gauge, needle size and desired wingspan length and it is advisable to get a little more than you think you’ll need.
Please note that these are estimates.

Yarn Substitutes
Istex Plötulopi, held double.

Finished measurements
Wingspan: 210 cm
Centre-back length: 100 cm
Side-wing length: 160 cm
Please note that these are estimates.

Gauge
10 cm = 16 sts and 26 rows on needle size 4 mm in pattern,
knit with yarn held double (before blocking).

Needles
4.0 mm 100 - 120 cm circular needle. I recommend using
lightweight metal needles with either medium-pointy tips or
lace-tips.

Other
A darning needle, scissors.

The recommended gauge and needles are for a shawl that has the same finished measurements as the sample.

This pattern is however highly adaptable and you can use any needle size and yarn weight you are comfortable with. You can also adapt the length to your own preference.
