Golden autumn days are made to be spent in the forest. This design evokes the falling leaves and crisp air, and I think embodies the character of Tauriel. She is both soft and hard simultaneously, effortlessly. I like the combination of buttons and lace, paired with a rustic yarn for an unexpected twist. I know you’ll love knitting these up! They work up very quickly due to the weight of the yarn.
This pattern is worked from the bottom (wrist cuff) up. Both mitts are worked the same.

The sizing on this pattern span from a small woman up to a large man. Make sure you check your palm measurement to ensure you are casting on for the right size! This unisex pattern looks just as great on a man as it does on a woman, but I do recommend a couple changes to the pattern as written. If you are knitting these for a gent, I really recommend rustic yarn to tone down the lace. You may also consider shortening the lace section and skipping the button loop (just stitch the button down as indicated) to keep it masculine.

Sizes: Extra-Extra Small (Extra Small, Small, Medium) (Large, Extra Large, Extra-Extra Large). This pattern has a bit of negative ease on the wrist/palm, but positive ease at the finger cuff.

Yarn: 70 - 150 yards/65 - 140 meters of worsted weight yarn.
Sample shown in Coyote Trail Farm & Fiber Mill 2-ply 50% qiviut exotic lint/50% merino, yak, silk, reindeer, angora colorway Gold.

Needles: Sizes US 6/4 mm circular and double-point needles, 7/4.5 mm (gauge needles) circular, and 8/5 mm circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or double-point needles (if preferred for working in the round), or size needed to obtain gauge, plus one size smaller and larger needles.

Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on medium-sized needles (US 7/4.5 mm).
Notions: 2 stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder, 2 buttons, and a blocking mat.
