Tekeli-li
“…there is a word of unknown but terrible and prodigious significance connected with the Antarctic and screamed eternally by the gigantic, spectrally snowy birds of that malign region’s core: Tekeli-li! Tekeli-li!”
--H.P. Lovecraft, At the Mountains of Madness
The Tekeli-li hat and wristwarmers feature skulls and “spectrally snowy birds” (although not particularly gigantic ones). I would suggest making this set for the Lovecraft fan in your life, except for the fact that my son -- who definitely falls into that category -- thinks that this is the silliest design he’s ever seen and refuses to even try it on.
The hat calls for sport weight yarn in the following quantities:
80 m/87 yards in main colour (grey)
75 m/82 yards in contrast colour 1 (white)
32 m/35 yards in contrast colour 2 (pink)
The wristwarmers call for sport weight yarn in the following quantities:
85 m / 93 yards in main colour (natural)
45 m / 50 yards in contrast colour 1 (ochre)
47 m / 52 yards in contrast colour 2 (black)
Both samples were knitted in Rauma Finullgarn, 175m/50g.
