Another design inspired by the Oregon coast. Imagine the rhythmic pulse of waves breaking along the rocks and the cool breeze whipping your hair and replenishing the soul. Like the ebb and flow of a perfect day at the beach, this shawl embodies the balance of the complex rush of waves hurdling towards the shore with the relaxed slide of water as it recedes. A combination of garter sections, fisherman’s rib and lace sections makes this a project to test your senses. This is a must-take shawl on your next coastal indulgence.

YARN
Full size: (4) skeins of Dk weight yarn in two colors; MC: 200g / 520yds; CC: 150g / 390yds
These numbers include a slight bump to account for swatching needs but know that you will need nearly all the MC yardage for the full size shawl. Note that this yarn is on the slightly lighter side of DK so if you’re worried about yardage, grab a third skein and then use your leftovers in the Haystack Rock Cowl.

Shawlette size: (1) skein of Dk weight yarn and heavy fingering/sport weight handspun; MC (yarn): 100g / 260yds; CC (handspun): 70g / 280yds

HANDSPUN
(1) 4oz braid; two-ply fractal spin achieved by splitting the braid in two parts, then splitting one half into two parts (1st ply) and the second half into four parts (2nd ply). I spun roughly 444yds from 115g / 4oz of yarn which is a heavy fingering/sport yarn but after knitting, it plumped up quite a bit to function as a sport weight yarn.
