These patterns are a scaled-down version of my Textured Blanket pattern; and, like the blanket, are very, very easy to make using only knit and purl stitches. I thought it would be fun to have a washcloth to match the blanket, so those who are so inclined could gift the blanket and a matching washcloth to new parents.

There are two “versions” included in this pattern. The first uses the same horizontal pattern as the blanket. The second uses a smaller horizontal pattern (half of the first one), for those who might want a smaller, more delicate-looking washcloth. For either version, be sure to cast on an odd number of stitches!

The washcloths that I made and photographed for this pattern were made using Knit Picks Dishie yarn. Version 1 was knit with the Fiesta Red colorway, and Version 2 was knit with the Mulberry colorway. I can generally get three washcloths from one ball of Dishie yarn.

Note: The Textured Blanket can be knitted with any weight yarn, as long as you know your gauge and adjust the total number of stitches to create your desired width. You could do the same with this pattern for a washcloth, but since a cotton yarn is recommended, you will likely be using a worsted weight yarn. The blanket, of course, could be made with virtually any fiber yarn, but a machine washable and dryable yarn would be recommended.
