AAVA = a Finnish adjective used to describe something wide and open, like the open sea. Also a women’s first name!

If you share a picture of the beanie on Instagram, please tag me @katimaariaknits and use the hashtag #aavabeanie – I can’t wait to see your designs! You may also sell the finished product but please give credit to the designer.

The Aava Beanie is a fun and squishy design combining garter stitch and a 12 stitch cable section, suitable for intermediate knitters, and knit with bulky weight (weight category #5) yarn. In this free pattern you’ll find full written instructions on how to knit the beanie from start to finish + a video tutorial for the cables. Once you get through the double brim it only takes you 4 cable turns + the decreases and voilà, your beanie will be all ready to go!
