The Banyan Tree Beanie
What a tough year it has been! Especially here in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, where we have been locked up basically on and off for almost 1.5 years. I have really missed travelling the most! Being on maternity leave with my second baby, our hopes were to go somewhere warm before I return to work in May. But it looks like that will not happen! So… instead, i have decided to make pattern designs that remind me of all the beautiful wonders of our world. My pattern previous to this was was called the “Sacred Falls Beanie” after the beautiful Sacred Falls of Hawaii.
This time around, I take you literally across the world to discover the magnificent Banyan Trees. Banyan Trees grow all over the world, but if you are from North America, the closest ones are in Florida. Banyan Trees are famous for their glorious exposure of their roots. After further research , I discovered that these trees actually represent Eternal Life and Longevity because the tree supports its expanding canopy by growing special roots from its branches….. how fascinating??
Knitted in Chunky and/or Worsted, this pattern is far from complex. Once you have the repetition figured out, it flows very nicely. The one big thing I love about this pattern is the amazing texture it creates once completed. Be sure to check out some of my tester’s pictures on here.
I really hope that you enjoy making this beanie, and be sure to message me or email me if you have any questions!
all the very best!
Sandra
