BEEHIVE HAT FAMILY PATTERN DESCRIPTION

This is a 15-page PDF “book” containing 5 hat designs. Two of them are already for sale, individually, on Ravelry. They are my Rapunzel and my Grizzled Wizard hats, two very popular styles that I can’t seem to stop knitting! Every time one comes off the needles, someone wants it!

I am offering these two patterns at a combined, lower price, plus adding three other patterns in the same PDF.

This hat uses heavy worsted weight yarn and size 9 circular and/or double pointed needles. It is easy to use the magic loop method in its construction. It is a great hat to use up stash and scraps left from other projects.

This pattern includes photographs, written instructions, and an easy-to-follow table for each of 5 different designs:

• The Grizzled Wizard
• The Slouchy BeeHive
• The Pointy BeeHive
• The BeeHive Cloche

It also includes my mini-photo-tutorial showing how I make detachable tassels. There are quite a few full-color photographs, but I managed to get the written pattern instructions down to one page per design. If you want the whole shebang, simply print the PDF, but if you want to save on ink, it is easy to print each hat’s page without any photos at all.

HISTORY OF THE BEEHIVE HAT FAMILY

It all started with the original BeeHive Beanie that I created for my son a couple of years ago. I made a lot of these hats and had requests for a pattern, before realizing that there were others very similar to it already on ravelry. So I never offered the patterns here. Since then, I have designed other hats in the BeeHive family, hats that, to my knowledge, have not been designed before.

My hats became very popular with my son and his friends, so I began to knit them hats, as well. They referred to their hats as their BeeHive Beanies because of the way they scrunch up and look like a cloche, yet stretch out to be stripey and slouchy. A very versatile hat, indeed!

As I created many BeeHive Beanies, I began to think of alternate styles. The Pointy Beanie is similar, but has more stripes and comes to a pointier end. Then, I thought of the Rapunzel and the Grizzled Wizard.
