The Essential Folded Beanie is a simple, classic ribbed beanie with a cozy folded brim. It is worked from the bottom up in the round using super bulky yarn and 1x1 ribbing, making it a great beginner-friendly project with a clean, polished finish.

This pattern includes 5 sizes, from Toddler through Large Adult, and is designed to fit head circumferences from approximately 18” to 25”.

Approximate yardage ranges from 78 to 97 yards, depending on size. One skein of most standard super bulky yarns should be enough for any size, but always check the yardage on your chosen yarn.

You can knit the beanie in a single colour or use a contrasting colour for the folded brim. Stripes and colour blocking also work well with this pattern.

Needles:
US 15 / 10 mm circular knitting needles
DPNs or a longer circular needle for magic loop may be used for the crown decreases.

Gauge:
11 stitches x 11 rows = 4” x 4” in 1x1 ribbing.

Because ribbing is very stretchy, gauge is especially important for achieving the intended fit. Measure your gauge relaxed rather than heavily stretched.
