Gauge:

Make a gauge swatch of 3 rounds of granny square using both strands of yarn held double

I’ve used a bigger hook to create a chunkier feel to the blanket, if your gauge is too big use a small crochet hook, if your gauge is too small use a bigger crochet hook.
