Notes:
Carry floats often (every 2- 3 sts) to give the bag a clean and sturdy look and avoid snags if you do not add a lining.
This is a 16-row/round repeat. Each repeat creates four squares that are equal to two stripes of the gingham pattern when repeated. Each 8 row x 8 stitch block is referred to as a square in the pattern. Each pattern repeat creates 4 squares. See chart below.
Construction
You will be using stranded colorwork/fair isle by carrying your floats across the WS.
This bag is made by first knitting a flat rectangular panel then picking up stitches around the perimeter with strategic corner decreases to round out the edges. The body of the bag is knit in the round, then stitches for the strap are separated and the remaining body stitches are cast off. The strap is worked in two separate parts and seamlessly joined at the shoulder.
