This pattern to knit a relaxing lavender sachet, is a tribute to all those process knitters out there, who enjoy knitting for the meditation-like state it puts them into, and the resulting freedom from stress. The pure love of the rhythm of the needles interacting with the yarn. The finished article is not the point, the glory of the ride is all that matters!

It is a quick, knit, ideal to make a last minute, easy to post gift, or for trying out stranded colour work knitting.

Fill it with dried lavender and pop in your wardrobe and drawers to keep clothes smelling sweet and to discourage moths. Crafters can keep one in their project bags, doubling up as a needle/pin holder. Left unstuffed with a stiff insert, it would make a great coaster ( you could make a set in different colours! ) The pattern could easily be converted into a small drawstring pouch, ideal for keeping EarPods or tiny treasures safe.

You Will Need:
Small amounts of 4 ply yarn. When I say small amounts, the whole thing weighed only approximately 1/4 oz before stuffing. Leftovers from other projects in highly contrasting colours, are all that is needed. I used scraps of very dark blue (almost black) for the main colour, pale blue for sky and sea, sandy yellow for middle background, and a mid-blue for fishes and waves under the sea.

A circular needle: 1.75mm. 32 “ long for magic loop (or 2mm or larger for a slightly bigger sachet).

A large eyed yarn needle for weaving in ends and grafting the top edge closed.

Dried lavender and a 3” square thin cotton bag to act as an inner lining to hold the lavender: I bought some readymade gift bags from Etsy 8 x 10 cm, folded the tops down and over-sewed shut, after filling with lavender.

Sewing needle and thread to slip stitch lining closed. Alternatively, sachet could be lightly filled with wadding or toy stuffing and scented with lavender oil.

Size : on 1.75mm needles, the finished sachet measured approximately 3” square. Larger needles will make a slightly larger finished item.
